But ... dogs are already on trains and buses ... there's no enforcement. Just like bikes, feet on the seats, smoking, etc...

Story link here (so controversial and for no reason ... )

I HAS BEEN QUOTETH:
“I don’t think you’re going to get everyone to agree on what is best,” she said. “But as a regular GO commuter, as long as I’m a paying customer and I get to sit before your dog does, we’re good!”

I have an issue with this, well the article on the CBC website yesterday. The sense of entitlement from the woman was astounding.

I am not a dog person (I was attacked by two different ones by the time I was 5). I tolerate service dogs as they are extremely well trained. But others? Nope. I do not want to associate with any. Plus, there are several people I know who are allergic and can end up with an asthma attack from them.

So, I believe that dogs should not be on rush hour trains (you cannot really move between coaches because of all the people), that they need to be crated to prevent them from approaching people. And finally, the person gets the seat, the dog the floor. Unless you have proof of purchase for the dogs seat.

Keep in mind that planes have similar rules and they enforce them.

Dog owners are no more important than anyone else. Why they think policies need to change to accommodate them is beyond me.

The TTC has a long standing policy about dogs that has worked well for over 30 years...

As for allergies, well, it's public transit so there's dander on clothes without the dog even being there. Same with cat fur.

GO Transit isn't going to change their policy but what they need to do is start ENFORCING the one they have. As the pictures show, like smoking, people do what they want, when they want.

And what happens when they do their "business" on the train/seats... it's bad enough we sit on dirty seats due to foot riders, now we'll have to worry about that too!? No thanks...
