Where was the TSO or Customer care? According to routine and precedent they should have come by at least once to totally overlook the infraction and do the requisite "shrug and walk away". Standards of performance are definitely declining. At the very least we expect the timely issuance of another cutesy, expensive, and ineffectual "Etiquette" poster urging the ridership to "do something - but not too much." Expect a fare hike shortly. That is all. Harumph.
Wow I wish I had been there. I would have gone down the stairs on principles alone. If this was the end of the day when I've got my end of workday crankiness going it would have been colorful had he refused to move.
WTF is that on his foot?
People can be total assholes and this proves it. Imagine an emergency situation and this douchebag has the stairwell blocked.
It's just these sorts of domineering behaviors normal people exhibit that makes me dubious of the "victim" mentality one keeps hearing about on the news media and online. If so many people are this bossy and possessive of even corporate and public domains how can they ever be "innocent" and "victimized" when they're so invasive and predatory themselves?

@ Tal
They are only victims when they are called out on their bad behaviour. Until then, they will push themselves onto and into other people's space.
